More tribal bodies join oust Nasir campaign
IMPHAL, May 5 : The Churachandpur District Students’ Union (CDSU) has joined the oust Manipur Agriculture Minister Md Abdul Nasir campaign.
Earlier, Federation of All Tribal Youth Clubs, Manipur (FATYCM), ATSUM and several other organisations had demanded the removal of Minister Md Abdul Nasir.
The Manipur Agriculture Minister had allegedly abused a tribal officer verbally with racial remark sometime back.
On Monday, CDSU said it fully endorses All Tribal Students Union, Manipur (ATSUM)’s demand for the removal of Agriculture Minister Md Abdul Nasir from his post.
Terming the abuse on David Zamzathang, ZEO Thoubal as an ‘arrogant attitude and unbecoming behaviour’ of the Minister, the CDSU said the victim was a dedicated tribal officer hailing from Churachandpur district. The CDSU further expressed its support to the ATSUM in its relentless pursuit to bring justice by demanding the immediate resignation of the ‘belligerent Minister’ on moral ground. CDSU urged the Chief Minister of Manipur to drop him from his Council of Ministers, keeping in view the hurt sentiments of the tribal.
Meanwhile, CDSU said it is fully convinced that the man of such ‘uncivilized’ nature shall find no place in today’s society and deserves befitting action for the same and for which the competent authorities must address the matter with utmost urgency and seriousness to avert further misunderstanding or undesirable consequences. As such, delay in taking the matter shall be construed as denial of justice to the State’s entire tribal populace, the CDSU cautioned.
CDSU also appealed to all right thinking citizens of the State in general and the entire tribal populace and their existing organisations in particular to extend their support to ATSUM in the interest of the tribal and as a mark of solidarity. Further, the CDSU urged all organisations claiming to represent the State’s tribal to refrain from intervening in the ongoing misunderstanding or paint a communal colour to serve its in own self interest.
The CDSU conveyed its gratitude to ATSUM for its recent achievement in convincing the state government to retain Alternative English (for students of tribal communities which have not yet been included in MIL in the state’s syllabus) for a minimum period of two years.
