Short speech on Protest Day at Freedom Park on Sept. 4th’15, Bangalore.
Dr. Pum Za Thang Tombing, Adviser, Manipur Tribal Union, Bengalulu.
My dear friends who came from the tribals heartland of Manipur, I great you in the beautiful organization name, "Manipur Tribals Union of Bangalore."
We are gathered here because nine of our young brothers' blood cries out from the ground of Manipur.
We have been reminded that the history was written by the blood of heroes and the country is set free by the blood of the heroes who sacrificed their last drop of blood for the freedom of the country. Let their souls silently rest in Peace for waiting the Autonomous Tribal State in North East India.
Today, you and I are in the historic meeting for the creation of another tribal homeland in North east India. I have mixed emotions today for those 9 young martyrs who gave their precious lives for the tribals’ in Manipur; on the flip side, I am happy that August 31 is the tribals’ united day as one in accord to defend our motherland and our young people’ blood flowed together toward the ocean of freedom, for a better future of the hill tribes.
I want to remind everyone that we are good citizens of India and have the full right to express our grievances to the Government of India. Let the freedom bell rings in all the hill district of Manipur. “We shall overcome, we shall overcome some day, Oh deep in my heart I do believe, We shall overcome some day,” Long live Tribals, Amen.
Prayers for the People and the land : after condolence of those who died for the Tribal land:
“Father, we thank you that you are our God , who always does all things for our betterment. We mourned for the brave sons of the soil of our land who gave their last drop of blood for their motherland. We pray that their blood cries unto you, and their sacrifice should not be in vain. We pray for their dear parents and siblings who missed them sorely. Please comfort and console them with your heavenly consolation. Help them to stay true to you moments by moments till they see them in the eternal shore. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen !
