11th Day of MTFD Relay Sit-in protest - The Spirit remain the same.
It has been the 75th day since our tribal martyrs have not been buried and the 11th day of the relay sit-in protest at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi which was organized by the Manipur Tribals’ Forum, Delhi. The rally has been organized to keep the fire of the movement burning by MTFD and will continue tomorrow as well.
Today rally witnesses young and old coming together at Jantar Mantar from 4pm onward to show their solidarity and support to the tribal cause. As it has been a continuous rally, the turn out was not huge as compared to a one day rally, however it was enough to set the spirit soar. The program was led by Dr Chinkhanlun Guite with a prayer and further led the crowd into songs and slogans. The first speech was from ZSF leader Pu Bruce Thangkhal. He spoke about the need of unity and not to lose hope. Pu Ginza Vualzong, admin Zogam.com spoke about keeping the fire of the movement burning and to be clear on our demands in term of short and long term goals. Next up Pu K. Gangte, the secretary of Kuki Statte Demand Committee spoke about their activities and the need of a separate state for the Tribals as the Nagas and Mizo have their own state. He further added that as long as we have a separate state, the name doesn't matter. Dr. Lamkhanpiang spoke about the need for Tribal Unity and the evening rally was closed in prayer by Pu Lian Suantak.
Zogam.com spoke to Maivio J Woba the co-convenor of MTFD and he said the MTFD will come up with a charter of demands which will go together with other partners like JAC, ATSUM and different Tribal bodies. On how long this relay rally would continue, he said the rally would continue as long as it is needed. He futher said that due to the relay rally the government official have open up more than it was before and that many knew about our tribal cause even more.
The MTFD relay sit-in protest will continue tommorow as well from 4pm to 6 pm at Jantar Mantar and everyone is requested to take part in it.
In another update, from the Press Release by JAC, CCpur today, it was learned that the funeral program of the 9 tribal martyrs will be held within the month of November and they will be buried with the highest honour at the ADC complex in Bungmual, Churachandpur.
