IFP, IMPHAL, Dec 27 : The Joint Action Committee Against Anti-tribal Bills (JAC), in its meeting held today, deliberated on the proposed inauguration programme of two power sub-stations at Ankhasuo (Vangai) and Sinzawl (Thanlon) of Churachandpur District on December 29 by Chief Minister O Ibobi in the presence of some tribal MLAs.

Citing a press release issued on December 18, the meeting resolved to boycott the proposed inauguration programmes, and oppose any attempts by the Manipur Government to proceed with programmes of similar nature.

While appreciating the initiatives taken by all involved parties in making the two power sub-stations ready and fully operational, the JAC reiterated the press release it had issued on December 18 that with the current turmoil in the tribal territories of Manipur following the passing of the three 'anti-tribal' Bills by the Manipur State Assembly, and the ever-growing resentment against the Manipur Government, the JAC views the proposed programmes as a ploy by the Manipur Government to appease the tribal populace while at the same time utterly disregarding the tribal sentiments.

As the two power sub-stations are already functional and in usable working conditions, the JAC is of the opinion that the presence of the Chief Minister/any of the tribal MLAs is not required to make them operational.

The press release issued by the JAC on September 12 on boycotting all tribal MLAs and preventing their entry into the tribal territories still stands, conveyed a press release issued by the JAC.
