Lamka, Jan 10: With the district hospital recording 11 cases of dog bites in the past two days, CCpur recorded a total of 54 such cases since January 1.
The eleven new cases included four in a family who sought medical attention before noon today. The family hailing from Saiton village has reportedly killed the dog as well in a fit of rage after four of them got bitten mostly on their hands.
Another resident of Reng-kai was also treated early today while the remaining 6 cases were registered yesterday. They include 3 from Lungthul E village, one each from New Lamka, Leijang and Headquarters Veng.
With the cases reported in the past two days, the total cases registered at the district hospital since January has reached 54 but there was no reports of fatality ever since.
All the alleged death cases occurred last year with the latest victim succumbing on December 30, the day the district administration has first issued a magisterial order on the issue.

Rabies scare spreads to Noney?
IMPHAL, Jan 10: After Churachandpur, Tamenglong too appears to have been hit by rabies outbreak after two persons were bitten by a dog which shows symptoms of rabies infection at Noney (Longmai) Keithel yesterday.
Helena Phaomei (36) w/o Lungchudai of Charoi Pandongba was bitten by a dog on the right thigh. Then the same dog bit one Kimthuilung Kamei (36) s/o Kamatan of Nongang on the left thigh yesterday afternoon at Noney Keithel.
Both the dog bite victims were treated by Dr Ajin who is also Tamenglong District Malaria Officer.
Around 23 people were taken to Churachandpur district hospital since January 1 after they were bitten by dogs suspected to have been infected by rabies.
Meanwhile, several civil society organisations of Noney have sought immediate attention of the concerned Government authorities.
