Schools shut in Churachandpur
Private schools in Churachandpur district are set to close all classes effectively from today as the 52 member schools affiliated to Churachandpur District Private Schools Association (CDPSA) have decided to lock-down their schools indefinitely to protest the 'continued monetary demands and threats imposed by certain groups on its members', reports our Lamka correspondent.
The decision was taken yesterday during the association's general body meeting as member schools decided to stand united against such disruptive elements in the best interest of their students and make it known that it is strongly objects monetary demands and threats to any of its member schools.
'The CDPSA is compelled to take this painful decision as it has become increasingly impossible to run the schools and effectively impart education under the prevailing disruptive circumstances,' said the association in a statement issued to media.
They also sought help from the concerned authorities and the general public so as to restore cordial and conducive academic atmosphere in the district.
The association however refrained from mentioning the group(s) behind the monetary demands nor the schools involved and the amount demanded.
Nevertheless they have hinted on a group that was of late notorious for serving several ransom demands in the district.
