The show goes on for SSPP Fc !
Match reported by Cole Sonn.
Match documentary:
Sspp Fc takes on one of the most formidable team in the tournament ,Wung United for their 2nd league matches today at Ambedkar Stadium
SSPP Fc makes two changes with Priyokumar coming in for Muansang at central defence and Siam Hanghal coming in for Michael at right wing.
Prior to kickoff, the organising committee makes a moving gesture with a moment of silence in remembrance of our 3 departed brothers and fans who passed away the day before and whose body were flown for their final journey in the same flight today towards Manipur.
The match started with the Wung United taking early initiatives, attacking and controlling the midfield led by their No.13 with his agility and play making. The first fifteen minutes goes to Wung United, dictating the match in the midfield and attacking wide with mostly from the right wing. Luckily for the SSPP Fc fans, The formidable defence of SSPP Fc well marshalled by Biaksang held tightly preventing the Wung United to freely attempt at the goal.
The SSPP Fc fans buoyed by their ever hungry fans begun to play a passing game form 15 minutes onwards. A powerful shot just outside dbox by Sonpau was blocked by Wung Custodian and the follow up attack by Tluanga and Khamminthang goes wide. With the SSPP Fc players starting to read their opponents strength, Seiboi along with Sonpau started to slow down the play in the midfield without much of an attack.
The Wung United , though having the majority of the possession did not have a clear chance at goal though giving a nervous moments for SSPP fans time and again. The 1st half scoreline reads 0-0 with possession going at 55:45 in favour of Wung United.
The 2nd half begun with the initiatives going again with Wung United. Wung United, being more taller and physically bgger controls the midfield making difficult for SSPP Fc midfielder to really make a chance for their striker duo of Khamminthang and Tluanga. With Siam Hanghal not really upto his mark and Siasiam not his usual self attack by SSPP Fc rarely happens though both the winger shows some slick one on one moments in the midfield.
With the boisterous SSPP fans at their back, Sspp Fc shows some urgency in the midfield playing and passing wide, cutting down their aerial ball. Seiboi and Sonpau did some hardworking in the midfield keeping the ball and playing with their strength defensively. Wung United , though the better side cannot create real chances and full credit goes to our defence. The game reading of Biaksang need special mention here with Mangkholen on the left with the lanky Priyokumar doing their job perfectly. Most of Wung attack comes from the left wide wing giving a hard time for Khuallian. The way I see it, the otherwise creative and talented Siasiam did not play to his potential giving a chance for their opponents to attack from the right wing.
The SSPP Fc fans moments comes around the 15 minutes of second half when Sonpau sends the nervous SSPP fans into deririous and hysterical moment. A beautiful passing game in the midfield by Sspp fc resulting in some anxious moments in front of Wung United goal results in Sonpau scoring the first and solitary goal of the matches.
Score reads SSPP Fc 1-0Wung United
Buoyed by Sonpau's goal with the SSPP fans sensing victory by their team, The SSPP Fc started to wrest control of the game. With 10 minutes to go the SSPP fans were beginning to wish for a strategy change for defensive play with a 4-5-1 formation but the coaches thinks otherwise. A couple of good chances were missed by SSPP players. A powerful shot by Siam hanghal and Tluanga were worth mentioning With the sspp fc playing an attacking game now, with the delectable Seiboi and Sonpau coming alive at the midfield closing in on every ball , their opponents seems to lost their cool, with some mispasses here and there. Wung United though gives some anxious moments in the dying minutes through some spot kicks and aerial ball attacks.
Final score reads Ssppfc 1-0 Wung united
Take way for SSPP:
# very good defensive play.with two games and two wins with clean sheets i can say that the strength of SSPP Fc lies in their defence. The lanky Priyokumar gives the much impetus needed in defence to attack the aerial ball and it seems Biaksang and himself do their job perfectly.
# slick passing and controlling the ball also is our strength.players were confident, not at all overwhelmed by our opponents attack which is very important if we are to go a distance in the tournament. A very very good sign.
# seiboi carry on his good form.linking the defence midfield well and Sonpau shows some improvement in the middle
Room for improvement:
#Our forwards. Though not blaming anyone in particular, as I mentioned in our first match, our striker duo of Tluanga and Khamminthang doesn't seems to read each other. When the opponents were much more fast and physical in the midfield, I find it imperative for one of our strikers to collect the ball for his partner, dropping down in the middle and split the defence opening for an attack. For our next match I suggest a formation of 4-5-1 with Khamminthang as the lone striker and Tluanga operating as a winger. Siasiam should come in the middle with seiboi standing as DM, linking defence.
It's another good day for SSPP fans and the signs are positive. We could well go the distance this time.
So guys, Let's EAT, PRAY and SUPPORT SSPPFc. See you tommorow at Jamia ground @ 9:30am
