Phungzathang Tonsing assures water supply scheme in Lamka
TSE Churachandpur, Apr 7: Claiming that the North Eastern Council (NEC) has already sanctioned Rs 4 crore to augment water supply scheme in Lamka town, his home Constituency, Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing today assured to initiate water supply scheme which will outdo other water supply schemes in the State, reports S Singlianmang Guite.
The Minister said he had visited Shillong twice and met several Central leaders to ensure sufficient potable water for the town and accordingly the NEC has already sanctioned Rs 4 crore for the purpose.
He added that he is seeking an additional Rs 2 crore from the State Government as the NEC’s fund may not be sufficient to cater the public to the extent he had envisioned.
“As far as water is concerned, I assure that you will soon get a sufficient supply of water which will function far more effectively than other districts,” Minister Tonsing said.
The Minister also claimed that he is making an effort to upgrade the district hospital with better and bigger facilities which will include private wards and the ICUs.
200 bed capacity will be set up in the district hospital within the current year and private wards will be introduced very soon, the Minister said.
