Ministry enquires about Khuga Dam

The Water Resources Ministry sought for immediate comments from Water Planning and Projects Wing of the Centre Water Commission over the matters pertaining to the Khuga Multipurpose project as placed by the JAC on Khuga Dam Project.
The action came after Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju wrote to the Union Minister for Water Resources Uma Bharti to instruct concern Departments to look into the misappropriation of funds and condition of the Khuga Multipurpose Project at Mata Village in Churachandpur on Monday.
Last week a delegation of JAC Khuga Dam met the Minister and written representations were submitted to the Ministry and the Prime Minister’s office.
The MoSH also wrote to Piyush Goyal, MoS New and Renewable Energy, Coal and Power.
Khuga Dam JAC members Lalpu Hangsing and Golal Tungnung told The Sangai Express that they will pursue the matter until it is brought to a logical conclusion.
“We are hopeful that the new Government in their best of wisdom and concern will look into the matter”, the members said. “We have appealed for spot inquiry and investigation into the misappropriation of funds”, they added.
It maybe recalled that the Khuga Multipurpose project was inaugurated in 2010. Until date there was no output generated from the said project, but rather destruction of village farmlands and dwelling houses.
“All these will be exposed, and I am confident that the new Government is taking action soon ” JAC Chairman Hangsing said.
Convener Tungnung added “ We met Uma Bharti and her Political Adviser Sanjay Sharma who keenly listened to the grievances submitted by us”.
Talking of several concerns related to the district in general beside the Khuga Project, the JAC team who are in the capital also met VK Singh, Minister of DoNER today and other central political leaders.
