Delhi Police and NE meet

“Facebook- Delhi Police for NE folks” was launched today at a meeting –interaction of Delhi Top Police officers and NE communities at Hindi Bhawan in central Delhi. About a hundred gathered comprising of youths and professionals from North East states who are residing in Delhi and NCR.

Nodal Officer for NE, Robin Hibu said that 99% of NE communities use Social media and this Facbook will play an important tool to reach out. Robin told the gathering that under one DCP a special cell for NE is initiated at Nanakpura police station.

Youth volunteers, individuals, student leaders who have relentlessly worked with the police in fighting crime against north east representatives put forth their grievances and and suggestions for safety and security of NE people living in Delhi and NCR.

Under the standing order no 383/2012 “Tackling the problems faced by Students & Other from NE states In Delhi” The Police have been conducting a massive drive of “ Zero Tolerance” against crimes on NE people. Robin Hibu told the gathering that helpline numbers were set up, and legal services will be worked out with the Delhi Legal Services Authority. He said the police follow strict mandatory in sensitizing the Police, self defence training for NE women. An order under CrpC 144 was issued for dropping of BPO employees till the doorstep said the Nodal Officer.
