Naga people call for indefinite bandh on National Highways beginning 4th September
In the latest development in Ukhrul, the Nagas have declared the two deceased persons - Ramkashing Vashi and Mayopam Ramror as martyrs, who were killed in police firing during United Naga Council’s rally on Saturday.
The decision was taken by the people of Ukhrul during funeral service organised at Tangkhul Naga Long Ground today. Thousands of people bid adieu to Ramkashing Vashi and Mayopam Ramror who were buried at Tangkhul Naga Long Ground.
In a meeting held later , the Nagas decided for a political boycott of state government in all Naga inhabited areas. They also call for indefinite bandh on National Highway and State Highway until government of India intervenes in the issue. The bandh will be effective from 4th September 6 am.
Further, the Nagas have decided to ban all construction works of national projects in Naga inhabited areas. It said educational institutions, media persons, people working in medical field and electricity department will be relaxed.
