Summer Mission trip in the US (April – July):
During my summer mission trip in the US, I felt the presence of the Lord and encountered many incidents unlike never before. The Lord has opened wide doors for me to do ministry among the Zomi communities in 3 states and for the first time along with my family (wife, daughter, son-in-law, and grandson) in 5 other states. The Lord gave me the opportunity to preach more than 40 times in churches and conferences along with three evangelistic meetings. Whenever I preached the Gospel, the Holy Spirit convicted His children. Over 150 people rededicated their lives and over 15 people accepted Jesus as their Savior. Glory be to God for what He hath done!
From the countless counseling, two incidents stood out. First, the Lord used me as an encourager and ‘to stand sill and wait upon the Lord’ among the congregation that experienced a church split from over 500 members to less than 30 members. Second, the Lord used me as a marriage counselor to a couple that encounters marital issues due to adultery. Please pray for the people involved in these circumstances!
The Longer I Serve Him, the Sweeter He Grows:
Since I started for the Kingdom,
Since my life He controls,
Since I gave my heart to Jesus,
The longer I serve Him, The sweeter He grows.
The longer serve Him, the sweeter He grows,
The more that I love Him, more love He bestows;
Each day is like heaven, my heart overflows,
The longer I serve Him, the sweeter He grows.
One of the highlights of my summer mission trip was when a friend of mine surprised me by arranging a Jet tour to preach from one county to another county in Florida. He told me that he made a pledge to the Lord to honor Him by honoring me for doing God’s work for close to 50 years. Of course, I was speechless. Indeed, “the Lord is my portion” and “the longer I serve Him, the sweeter He grows!”
Most of all, I am humbled that my Master is still choosing to use me as His vessel just like when I was in my early years of ministry. Praise God for “those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” Isaiah 40:31.
Family Time:
During our stay in the US, Than and I have spent quality time with our daughter Lydia, son-in-law Lal, and grandson Caleb. As any grandparents, our grandson brings us so much joy. Lydia and Lal surprised us by planning a birthday celebration for me and my grandson. I was born on July 15th and he was born on July 12th. We thank the Lord for such a time as this!!!
The 8th Commencement of GETS:
The Eight Graduation Exercise of Gilead Evangelical Theological Seminary was completed successfully as planned with the presence of the Lord. Our graduation theme was “Entrust the Word to faithful men” (2 Tim. 2:2). Below are highlighted pictures from the graduation along with excerpts from the valedictory speech by Mr. Thang Biak Mung Hatzaw, an M.Div student. We praise the Lord for what He is going to do through the lives our graduates.
Excerpts from the Valedictory Speech:
“It is often heard of people saying that, SAIACS produced administrators, ACA produced teachers, and the Serampore produced pastors. But Gilead produced all of them because GETS is one of the best seminaries. Often I look this world overflowing with skillful, talented and gifted people. And within this I see “me‟ as nothing. But I look upward towards heaven, and this I see, that with God I am everything. Friends, if we look unto this world we would be consumed by this world, but if we look unto God, this world would come to our feet…”
Please Praise & Pray for:
1. The newly committed believers and the ones who recommitted their lives to Christ. Pray that their relationship with their Savior will grow deeper.
2. The lost souls in India and other parts of Asia to know the salvation of the Lord.
3. Our church, seminary and children at Home of Destiny to grow for God’s glory.
4. The leading and guidance of the Lord especially to Pumza and that the Lord will continue to use Him alone for His purpose and glory.
5. All prayer warriors and supporters that the Lord will continue to be their portion.
God willing, my wife and I are planning to return to Bangalore, India on July 21st to continue our ministry. Our Seminary will be opened and we are expecting more than 30 students in this academic year. Please continue to pray that these students may be mighty warriors for the Lord.
May the Lord be always your portion! May His hand guide you and may His name be glorified because of you!
