Tribal protest at Manipur Bhavan
ZNN | New Delhi, 20th September 2015. As soon as they heard that Okram Ibobi Singh, the Chief Minister was in Delhi, the Manipur Tribal Youths held sit-in demonstration today ie. 20 September 2015 at Manipur Bhavan, Sadar Patel Marg, New Delhi around 5:30pm. The State Chief Minister Shri Okram Ibobi Singh was currently in New Delhi and stationed in the said Bhawan. The protest was mainly organised in protest to Ibobi Singh's government who is the Chief Minister of Manipur. There were 9 people being killed by the Manipur State Police and the Chief Minister of Manipur has not even made a comment on it.
The sit-in protest invoved shouting slogans against the Manipur's government, speeches were made from various leaders, songs of solidarity were sang and prayers for the departed souls and for the movement were made. All the MDCs who were in New Delhi for the Tribal issues came to the sit-in protest. Romeo Hmar who is the convenor of the Manipur Tribal Forum, Delhi lead the protest and Pu Biakkhanmang open the sit in protest with a prayer. Speeches from various leaders were heard from Siroi (Naga leader), Langkhanpau (MDC), Kim Ngaihte (Nurse), Thangkhosuanmung (Chief of Hiangtam Lamka and MDC), CT Lian (Social activitist and MDC), Dr Lamkhanpiang and Mung Ngaihte (Student activitist) . Slogans were lead by Pu Chinkhanlun, Timothy (KSO Secy), Loon Gangte and Samuel Kuki.
Meanwhile Protest continues in Churachandpur, with 9 dead bodies still lying at the Hospital Morgue. The Demand of the protest were to repeal the 3 Bills recently introduced in the Manipur State assembly and demand for seperate administration for Manipur tribals in Hill areas. Since protest was not allowed in the VIP area of Chanakyapuri, the tribal youth Protesters were arrested and sent to Chanakyapuri Police Station but later on were released.
