Voice of Zomis
The 65th Zomi Nam Ni celebration in the heart of the country’s capital, a first time affair in Delhi, time before the anticipated talks of the United Peoples Front, of which Zomis are a part, with the Centre and the Manipur State Government was a significant event both politically and culturally. In our March issue, we present the Zomi’s efforts towards right of self determination and their demand for Autonomous Hill State in Manipur. With anticipation of talks on the Zomi-Kuki issue to commence in April, the North East Sun puts the spotlight on the Zomi people who like many other ethnic groups of the North East have been struggling for recognition.
