The “Mumbai Zomi Welfare Association (MZWA) Annual Meet” was successfully held at RBI Officers’ Colony, Prabhadevi, Mumbai, on 29th September 2018.
To promote unity in diversity and to welcome the newcomers, the “MZWA Annual Meet” has been held annually with spectacular cultural extravaganza comprising of dances, melody songs, skit, and choreography.
This year Zomis in Mumbai converged in large number to mark the event with delightful zeal. As the saying goes, “Falling leaves return to their roots”, this year the event was marked by a panel discussion on “Revisiting the ancestral roots (Pupa tawndan etkikna)” while welcoming the freshers and strengthening the bond of the Zomis here in Mumbai.
The Mumbai Zomis welcomed their newcomers with traditional dances, pastoral prayer, an offering of gifts and exhortation. Attendees followed the dress code by wearing their respective colourful traditional costumes. Dancing, cheering and blowing whistles for the performers on stage, the Annual Meet had been celebrated with joy and grandeur.
There were live performances by various distinguished artists, MZWA band, and cultural troupes. Joining with an array of enthralling performances was the children choreography mesmerizing the audience with their flexible moves.
As the program ended, attendees held hands for a circle dance what is traditionally known as “Lamtual Kaih/Zaangta Laam” that made the entire hall reverberated with songs, and dances, leaving a cheerful atmosphere all over.
