Manipur burning: Another church attacked in Imphal

Yet another church was attacked, and burnt down by a mob in Imphal on Monday.
The church at Pangei area was burnt down and the pastor's house damaged by a Meitei mob numbering over 30, sources said. They said that the family members of the pastor are now taking refuge at nearby MR headquarters. The pastor belongs to Grihang village in Ukhrul.
Police and Fire Brigade were stopped from reaching the site by the mob. However, no casualty was reported.
Meanwhile, in the day, several cases of arson in different places were reported. Buses and private vehicles were burned.
In view of the tense situation, the Ibobi Singh government has put a ban on SMS and internet services in the state, and restrictions imposed in East and West Imphal area.
Earlier on Sunday, a mob attacked and threatened to burn down the MBC Centre Church and the Tankhul Babtist Church in Imphal.
The attack was carried out as counter economic blockade in the state imposed by the United Naga Council in protest against the arrest of their president Gaidon Kamei and other leaders.
