Dy CM greeted with protest at Delhi
TSE | NEW DELHI, Oct 7: Manipur tribal youths residing in Delhi were today arrested by Delhi police when they gathered in front of Manipur Bhawan at around 7 pm.
According to the youths they were planning to stage a protest against Dy CM Gaikhangam, who came to Delhi, for his alleged anti-tribal stand. His statement that the three Bills passed by the Assembly on Aug 31 will not affect the tribals has provoked the protesters to call for his resignation.
The protest was organised under the aegis of Manipur Tribal Forum, Delhi. The protesters then gathered in front of Chanakya police station and continued their protest.
At the time of filing this report, about 50 youths were taken inside the police station. As protesters still keep coming in, the protest is likely to continue till late into the night. Delegates of JAC Ccpur and ATSUM leaders who arrived here today joined the protest and also addressed the protesters.
