Pastors rally for self-determination demand
IFP | LAMKA, September 14: Around 500 pastors and ordained elders from different denominational church in Churachandpur gathered at the Hiangtam lamka Public ground today and attended an open air mass prayer meeting which was conducted by the Churachandpur District Goodwill Council.
The participants prayed to provide solace to the tribal martyrs and for the self determination of the tribals of Manipur which is the main demand of the JAC formed against the passing of the three bills in the State Assembly on August 31.
Meanwhile, some womenfolk dressed in rags also prayed to sustain the tribal unity and for the demands of the JAC. Womenfolk also staged sit in protests at many places.
It is also learnt that the condolence money which was collected from the people for the nine who died during the recent Churachandpur unrest and the injured have crossed more than Rs 22 lakhs.
