Ms. Vungzanem Valte received Florence Nightingale Awards 2015
The President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee conferred the Florence Nightingale Awards to 35 nurses from across the country on the occasion of International Nurses Day at the Rashrapati Bhavan on 12th May 2015, in the presence of Shri J P Nadda, Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, Minister of State for Health.
The Florence Nightingale awards are given to the outstanding nursing personnel employed in Central, State/UTs. Nurses working in Government, Voluntary Organizations, Mission institutions and the private institutions can apply with the due recommendation of concerned State Government. The Florence Nightingale Awards carries Rs.50, 000/- cash, a certificate, a citation certificate and a Medal.
From Manipur, Ms Vungzanem Valte wife of Thangta Valte, a native of New Lamka, who is currently working in Imphal achieved the coveted award for this year. Her citation is given below:
"Ms. Vungzanem Valte has rendered dediciated service to the nursing profession in a variety of capacities - from being a staff nurse to nursing superintendent, principal of a school of nursing to registrar of the state nursing council and now, as joint director for nursing with the government of Manipur.
She is an enthusiastic and hardworking nursing leader with deep interest in improving the standard of clinical service, education and community health nursing.
She has undertaken initiative at Nursing Directorate such as upgradation of the school of nursing and opening of new College of Nursing in Manipur.
She also undertook steps towards improvement in functioning of Manipur Nursing Council.
She organized various training programs in order to improve the skill son in-service nurses and also successfully conducted state level workshops for principals and teachers of the schools of nursing in Manipur.
She has received a number of appreciation letters."
