The Telegraph Jan 5: Zomi FC moved into the quarter-final of the 58th Sir Churchand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament 2015, defeating United Sporting Association by 6-5 goals during tiebreak at Mapal Kangjeibung today.
Both teams were locked 2-2 during regulation hours but Zomi FC prevailed in the end, scoring four goals and wasting one chance.
The United team converted three kicks and wasted two shots.
United Sporting Association set the tempo early with L. Fernando Singh ruffling the net in the third minute.
However, Zomi FC rallied hard and came up with the equaliser, with Cleaven Hmar making a well-angled shot off a free kick in the 21st minute.
United Sporting Association moved ahead with L. Fernando scoring the team's second goal in the 50th minute, with the support of K. Phalguni Singh.
The Zomi team restored parity in the 67th minute with Cleaven Hmar cracking home his team's second goal after getting a cross from Daniel Hmar to maintain the score till the final whistle.
During the tiebreak, Zomi FC scored four goals through G. Hausonpau, G. Ngulkhosiam, Thangminlun and T. Kamkhualian, while Immanuel Intaote's shot hit the post.
K. Phalguni, Y. Sobha and Ch. Risk found the net for the United team, while O. Premeshwor and L. Milan failed to convert their goals.
Body-building: The 6th Mr Eastern India Body-Building Championship 2015 got under way at Khuman Lampak sports complex this evening.
Altogether, 70 body-builders from Bengal, Assam, Odisha, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur are participating in the meet.
