India : NGHATHAL: RBI organized a financial literacy camp in SSPP Residential School on SATURDAY

In a bid to develop savings and banking culture among the young minds, the Reserved Bank of India (RBI) on Saturday has carried out a financial literacy camp at Siamsinapawlpi (SSPP) Residential School in Nghathal.
The country s apex lender has also made instant delivery of passbooks to more than 170 students, who became bank customers on the day of the financial literacy camp. Over 250 students from two schools have been present at the Saturday s event.
The Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur, PK Jha; AGM (Rural Planing & Credit Department) RBI Guwahati, MT Muanding Guite; BO DC Office, S Khaikhopau Ngaihte; Binita Devi, Assistant RBI Guwahati; Ruthi Paununmuang, Assistant RBI Guwahati, and Lead District Manager Nimai Singh have delivered speeches at the camp.
Addressing the gathering, the DC has persuaded the students present on the occasion to do very well in their studies and pursue their preferred profession.
Ngaihte has emphasized on the value of having a bank account and imparted the fundamentals of banking.
On his part, AGM Guite has talked about the different roles and functions played by the RBI to boost the knowledge of the students. He has further said that the country s central bank has been operating a 'financial inclusion' project for past eight years and this venture is now being moved further as part of the newly launched Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY). The PMJDY is aimed at covering every Indian under the banking and financial system of the country.
He has also stressed on the relaxation of the bank account opening rules to persuade students and families to take advantage of the move.
Moreover, students participated in a quiz contest based on the statements made by the dignitaries present at the occasion.
The RBI has presented small tokens to the winners of the quiz contest.
The apex lender has also offered water filters, sports equipment and comic books to the SSPP Residential School.
While UCO Bank handed over 145 passbooks to the students, Manipur Rural Bank has also delivered 26 passbooks.
