Lamka, Sep 30: If steps taken up by the State Electricity Department works as planned, the interior sub-divisional headquarters of Thanlon is set to receive power by Christmas according to top engineers who had just returned from the area.
"Our line team has already been organised. They are already there and supposed to start the work from today", said Nandakishore, SE (Civil) and his team of engineers who had just returned from the area.
However, they claimed that co-operation from the local people would be a big factor in meeting their deadlines.
The foundation stone for 33/11 power sub-station was laid way back in 2006 by Chief Minister O Ibobi.
However, bad road condition delayed the work which was to be taken up under NLCPR.
As the team of engineers who had been to the area since last week felt the present road condition was satisfactory they started the process of realizing the scheme into reality that has been withheld for years.
Once an electrified area, Thanlon has in the past received power feeds from the Department as well as from diesel based projects but was delectrified due to various factors.
The 33/11 KV power sub-station will however be the first such project in the sub-divisional headquarters, said the team which included Hijam Shantikumar EE (sub-station), Th Kamini Mohan Singh EE (TCD-1), T Kaizasong EE, one AE and an SO.
The team mentioned the 'keen interest' of local MLA Vungzagin Valte in reviving the project which otherwise was already ignored for years.
