Zogam.com Person of the Year 2013 Award (ZOPA):
On the 11th year of its existence as a platform for “Bridging the Zomis” www.zogam.com announces the first of its kind the Zogam.com Person of the Year 2013 Award (ZOPA) to be presented in March 2014.
The web portal began in the year 2003 as a small platform of likeminded young Zomi netizens living in the metros. Today, the website has expanded its cyber platform and has successfully brought diverse forms of expressions, news, information, tit bits, opinions, thoughts, images, from Zomis across the globe. As the website grows and progresses the contents have also grown in terms of quantity and quality. From local news and articles to subjects ranging from social issues, memories, experiences, music, literatures, religion to politics and current affairs that concern the Zomis, www.zogam.com has it all. Catering to all sections of the society, the young and not so young Zomis, the website serves as an information hub. Local news from home reaches the Zomi diaspora world wide, while those in Zogam were informed of happenings with the Zomis outside the state, the region and the country.
With huge number of visitors everyday Zogam.com has become the most popular information website for the Zomi community. It has therefore forms an important element and discourse of a society in transition as well.
Another major impact of Zogam.com is that many young writers contribute articles, stories, poems. Many voices have a space in the website that otherwise would not have been heard. All this have added to the growth of the website as the main connecting bridge of and for the Zomis.
For more than a decade now, the web portal continuously innovate new ideas and venture. In an attempt to foster the bridge stronger Zogam.com introduced events such as Zogam.com Writers’ Award earlier in 2008 and The Dr. T Ginkam Zogam.Com Writing Competition Award in 2010.
Besides this, Zogam.com is also happy to share with you some of our activities; we are among the firsts few North East Indian websites that use the first mobile version website in 2011, first to use private server in 2012, and the first android version website in October 2013. We take part in philanthropic works such as cleaning Churachandpur District Hospital in 2011, visiting and contributing to many orphanage homes in 2012 and 2013. We also did contribute to the Mautam Relief Fund to COMFA in 2008.
With confidence and support from our well wisher, this year we introduces a new venture, the “Zogam.com Person of the Year 2013 Award (ZOPA)” with an aim to recognize and appreciate the contributions of the Zomi(s) whose work in the calendar year 2013 has helped and impacted the lives of the Zomi society outstandingly. The event will be an annual affair hereafter. The selection process will follow a transparent and inclusive process, with nominations to be scrutinized by the Jury members drawn from diverse backgrounds from various places across the globe. To maintain the democratic principles and give ownership to the public, final selection will be based on 60% public vote.

Highlights: Schedules & the selection Process:
January 2014: Announcement of event. Nominations form will be put out in both print and online media. Nomination of a person or a person representing an organization will be accepted from all categories; Public Services, Entertainment, Sports, Politics, Business, Religion, Education, Media, Special Achievement etc.
One nomination per one person / organization will be accepted.
February 2014: Top 10 nominations will be selected by the Jury and will be announced for public decision through SMS Voting.
March 9, 2014: Award event and celebration of 11 years of Zogam.com in Delhi.
Winner: 60% Public Vote and 40 % Jury’s Decision.
THE ZOPA AWARD - Cash prize, trophy and a citation.
