TSE, IMPHAL, Jan 29: With the installation of all the necessary infrastructure almost complete, the much awaited regional passport office may be finally opened at Imphal by the end of February.
Necessary arrangements for opening a passport office are nearing completion at the Old Assembly complex and plans are afoot to open the passport office by the end of next month, informed an official source.
The passport office at Imphal would issue and collect passport application forms. After collecting necessary finger prints and on completion of due verification process, passports would be made at Guwahati.
Passports made at Guwahati would be brought to the Imphal office and distributed to applicants.
On the other hand, necessary preparations for opening visa on arrival facility at Moreh have been already completed. It is awaiting only the mandatory notification by the Union Home Ministry.
