BODY OF A BANK EMPLOYEE FOUND IN AIZAWL. DECEASED HAD BEEN MISSING SINCE 31ST DECEMBER LAST.
Lawngtlai, January 8, 2015:- AIZAWL : A body found in a highly decomposed state on the eastern outskirts of Aizawl today around 3 PM has been identified as that of a private bank Deputy Manager who went missing since December 31, 2014.
The body was discovered by a woman collecting plants for pig-feed among the bushes in the countryside of Zemabawk Falkland neighbour. The body was later identified by relatives as that of Lalnunmawia Zadeng, 32, Deputy Manager of HDFC Bank . The cause of his death is yet to be established.
The discovery of the body comes even as a massive search operation involving local volunteers from at least 16 localities in Aizawl and police are underway. An announcement from information centre of Zarkawt locality in Aizawl informed the discovery of the body of Lalnunmawia later in the afternoon.
Lalnunmawia Zadeng was deputy manager of the HDFC’s Lawngtlai branch in southern Mizoram who was on leave at the time of his disappearance.
Police said he had left home on the night of New Year’s Eve riding his sister-in-law’s motorcycle. He had sent an SMS to his family that he would be back soon. What had confounded police was that Zadeng’s phone had occasionally been traceable- it had been turned on at intervals. A man said he saw someone closely resembling him walking about and asking for directions, even feeding him. His wallet containing his driving license and ATM cards have been found in a dumpyard outside Aizawl last week.
