Appeal for allowing release of 'Mary Kom'

Imphal, August 24 2014: Komrem Union, Manipur (NEI) has appealed to the organisation concerned for permitting release and screening of 'Mary Kom', a biopic film in Hindi on boxer MC Mary Kom in Manipur as an exceptional case.
In a statement, president of Komrem Union, Manipur (NEI) Lalkhomang Serto pointed out that MC May Kom is not only the first woman Manipuri boxer to win a medal in Olympic for India, but also a 5 times World's Women Boxing champion and a pride of Manipur and only sports star of the Komrem comunity who has done well in International sporting arena.
"So, despite the ban on Hindi movies in Manipur for years and with respect to that decision, I believe the concerned organization will co-operate positively with a view to encourage the sportspersons of Manipur and fullfil the long cherished dream of the Komrem people to see the movie without any disturbances as an exceptional case," Lalkhomang Serto said, and added that this movie will remain an inspiration to the younger generation in achieving their dreams and strengthen the relationship of brotherhood among all communities in Manipur.
