Security guard molests north-east girl during lift rescue in Gurgaon
In yet another incident of crime against people from the North-East living in Delhi NCR, a girl hailing from the region was allegedly molested by a security guard in Gurgaon.
The incident occurred on the night of April 9 in Gurgaon's South City Phase-I area.
The 19-year-old victim has been residing in Gurgaon for the last three months and was working in a restaurant in Sushant Lok.
"After her shift in the restaurant, the girl and her friend were returning to their rented accommodation at Ivory Towers. Due to a technical snag the Ivory Towers lift got stuck between the second and the third floor," Jai Prakash, SHO of Sector 40 police station said.
The girls immediately pushed the emergency button in the lift following which a security guard reached the spot.
The guard, identified as Rinku, opened the lift's door using the master key and while pulling the girls out, he molested one of them.
"The entire incident was caught on the CCTV camera. Thorough investigation of CCTV footage presents a clear evidence to support the victim's claims. We have taken cognisance of the evidence gathered and will take strict action," Jay Prakash said.
After the incident, the victim and her friend went back to their room. However, the next morning the victim approached the Sector-40 police station and lodged a written complaint against Rinku.
"We are also investigating the matter of whether the technical snag occurred due to some technical/mechanical fault or was it a deliberate manual attempt," he added.
Rinku is a native of Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh and was employed with the security agency for past one and a half months.
