195 rebels to cast vote in Churachandpur
LAMKA, Apr 7: Around 200 rebels who are now under the tripartite Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement with the State and Central Government will be exercising their franchise in the upcoming general election across seven designated camps in Churachandpur district while another 3224 servicemen will cast their votes through the postal ballot.
As the Government has issued strict instructions to the SoO groups that headcount will be conducted on the designated camps prior and after the polling day, 195 cadres of various rebel outfits were set to cast their votes from seven camps located in the district.
The camps from where arrangement were made for the rebels to cast their votes, according to official data obtained by The Sangai Express, included - Theikhotang (95 votes), Chongkhozou (2 votes), S Nabil (5 votes), N Phaisat (14 votes), New Teikot (57 votes), Mongbung (2 votes), Ankhasuo (20 votes).
With polling for outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency barely two days away, preparation for these rebels as well as for the 296 polling booths across the district is at its final leg with many polling parties already arriving at their designated locations and reporting back to the control room.
Official sources said polling officials for 141 polling stations have departed till date while the remaining 155 will leave for their locations tomorrow.
SENAPATI: With two days to for the LS poll in II-Outer Manipur PC, hectic preparations are being made by the District Administration. A total of 1680 security personnel are deployed in the district.
24 polling parties have been dispatched today from the district headquarters while the rest will be dispatched tomorrow. All the polling parties from 336 polling stations are expected to return on April 10 afternoon.
In the meantime, sources said that 30 private vehicles requisitioned for election duty escaped from the requisition committee.
The DC/District Election Officer Jacintha Lazarus, informed that the Election Commission has decided to conduct live web casting for online monitoring by ECI at 15 polling booths, micro observers are also deployed for effective vigilance in 30 polling stations and videography for 27 polling booths in the district to conduct fair polling in the district. She also stated that 90 polling stations have been declared as hyper-sensitive where elaborate security arrangements have also been made to ensure free and fair polling.
THOUBAL: About 4057 security personnel and 232 vehicles will be deployed to ensure smooth and violence-free poll on April 9 and 17 in Thoubal district.
