Doungel entices voters with 6th Schedule
Lamka, Mar 5: Barely four days before outer Manipur decides who should represent them in Parliament, the NCP nominee C Doungel pitched for tribal rights today, telling a packed crowd at Synod Hall here that the State tribals need 6th schedule to withstand the onslaught of the majority.
Dragging his knowledge about the State’s history into his speech, Doungel said the Kings of Manipur had always maintained cordial relation with tribal chiefs and accused today’s tribal MLAs and MDCs of surrendering that level of relationship for their own personal benefits.
"They have surrendered to the extent that we were so disgraced by others. It’s just that they do not wear Phaneks," he said.
He also sought to amend what he said is ‘already disgraced tribal interest’ by invoking the 6th Schedule of the Constitution.
This will shield the tribal from the calculative policy of the State Government and uphold their rights, Doungel said adding, even the Manipuri Kings would have agreed with the special provision as it was evident from history their regard for the tribal chiefs.
It was the commoners who now rule the State that were adamant about tribal rights and the same people were behind the devious ploy to dilute their interest, he added.
He also warned the SoO groups of taking wrong sides. Now that they were enjoying stipend in their camps and collecting funds outside that some may take sides but let them be warned, time will come when they will be told to go home. They should know who will dare to speak up for them when such fate befalls on them, he said.

Lamlalmoi promises
KANGGUI, Apr 5: “I came here for you, I know your grievances and I am very much concerned of it. I am asking for your valuable votes. I don’t need your blood to give you a full fledged Sadar Hills.” This was stated by CPI(ML) candidate for Outer Manipur PC Momoi Gangte for the people of Sadar Hills in a simple function held at Kanggui this evening.
I don’t need your wealth, properties, efforts and blood to give you a full fledged Sadar Hills district. The only thing I need from the people of Sadar Hills is your valuable vote. If I am elected as the representative to the Parliament I will give you a full fledged Sadar Hills District, asserted Momoi Gangte while adding that I am not a person who will say “I don’t Sadar Hills” in New Delhi but I will shout aloud that ‘I Know and Love Sadar Hills in the Parliament.’
While speaking to local media person after the meeting the CPI(ML) candidate also said that I will fight for early political dialogue between UPF/KNO and the Govt of India before adding that if I am elected I will stage a democratic dharna at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi until UPF/KNO are called for political dialogue.
Scrapping AFSPA, handing over of the Loktak Hydro Power Project to the State Govt, to work for people in some Assembly segments of the valley districts who are barred from contesting the poll but allowed to vote, are some of the issues Lamlalmoi Gangte is going to raise in the Parliament if mandated.
