21st CENTURY CHRISTIAN WARRIORS FOLLOWING CHRIST WAYS
By Dr Ginlianlal Buhril
Then Jesus said to the disciples, “ If anyone wants to be a follower of mine, let him deny
himself and take up his cross and follow Me. For anyone who keeps his life for himself
shall lose it, and anyone who loses his life for me shall find it again. What profit is there
if you gain the whole world and lose eternal life ? What can be compared with the value
of eternal life ? Mathew Chapter 16: 24-26
I find solutions to all my life’s problems in the Bible.
Jesus Christ lives today and is so real to me. Rev Dr Pu Rochunga Pudaite
Foreword on Bibles for the World – No Greater Love
Jesus called His twelve disciples to Him and gave them authority to cast out evil spirit and to heal every kind of sickness and diseases ( vs. 1 and 2 ). Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure the lepers, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received. ( vs. 8 ) Mathew Chapter 10
A Christian is a well-equipped follower of Christ. A warrior is a brave fighter or soldier facing life’s challenges. In real terms we are warriors following Christ’s ways. In essence we are heroes of the Faith. We are soldiers of the Cross. The 21st Century is now universally accepted as the VUCA World – VUCA
stands for Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous.
1.1 Know who You are:
You are the child of the living God. You are very precious in God’s eyes. C.S Lewis in his book ‘ Mere
Christianity ‘ says:
“ The Son of God became a man to enable men to become Sons of God “
“ When you come to knowing God, the initiative lies on His side.If He does not show Himself, nothing
you can do will enable you to find Him. And, in fact, He shows much more of Himself to some people
than to others – not because He has favourites, but because it is impossible for Him to show Himself
Himself to a man whose whole mind and character are in the wrong condition. Just as Sunlight,
though it has no favourites, cannot be reflected in a dusty mirror as in a clean one.”
“ In the same way a Christian is not a man who never goes wrong, but a man enabled to repent and
pick himself up and begin over again after each stumble- because the Christ-life is inside him,
repairing him all the time, enabling him to repeat (in some degree) the kind of voluntary death.”
The MacArthur Study Bible talks about Genesis 39 as Joseph’s Success in Egypt. Protiphar house Joseph blooms.
In the Jail Joseph blooms. The LORD blessed the Egyptian”s house on account of Joseph (vs.5) The LORD was with Joseph and extended kindness to him, and gave him favor in the sight of the Chief Jailor (vs. 21). Joseph is known
for the temptation he faced. Like us, Joseph was alone, lonely and successful.
(a) Temptation is always strategic. Temptation comes when we are most vulnerable.
(b) Temptation comes when we are away from the security of loved ones.
(c) Temptation is persistent and very relentless.
If Christians of North-East India, as the ransomed or redeemed, can learn to understand how costly the
Lord Jesus and the Master Shepherd pays for our salvation perhaps our lives would be totally different.
2.1 Know your Enemy:
The evil one is your enemy. The Pastors Pastor Warren W Wiersbe says:
“ satan wants us to think that our ‘disobedience detours’ must become the permanent road for the
rest of our lives. But this is a lie.
Figure 1.1 The Strategy of satan
3.1 Know your Master:
A life with Christ as your Master is what you need. Is Christ the LORD of your life ? Is Christ you Guide
and Mentor ? Under whose mercy and grace do you live your life ?
“ The most important meeting we as leaders attend is that daily personal meeting with the LORD,
before the day begins, when we worship and meditation increases our faith as we receive the orders for the day.” Warren W Wiersbe (On Being a Leader for God)
Warren W Wiersbe strongly believed that – ‘Pressure on the outside should make us bigger on the inside’,
‘Opposition is not only evidence that God is blessing, but it is also an opportunity for us to grow’,
Jesus told his disciples, “ I have been given all authority in heaven and earth. Therefore, go and make disciples in all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you, and be sure of this – that I am with you always, even to the end of the world. (Mathew 28:18-20)
Clarification: The evil one (satan) is purposefully written in small letters. Two can play the game.
