BUILDING relationship with GOD

BUILDING relationship with GOD ~Miss Vungtheiching, New Delhi
vungtheiching“A college degree is not a sign that one is a finished product but an indication that a person is prepared for life.” -Reverend Edward A. Malloy, Monk’s Reflections

College feels so “grown up” right? Gone are the days when we have to wake up for school in those gloomy early mornings and get dressed in our uniforms, half-asleep, we sit in the school bus and trust me, it shall not be before the second period in class when we actually wake up and sit conscious.

College days are truly the best days of our life. We have the freedom to do whatever we want to. Bunk classes; go shopping, etc, it all depends on us, how we want to spend our time. Impulsive plans made in a minute and no need for parent’s permission each time. For many, this is life!

However, this may also be the time when we walk away from our purpose in life and most importantly, forget about our relationship with God. This period may also be the most difficult time in any person’s life. Temptations, the choice among good or bad, peer pressures, parental pressure…So much come in our way as we try to battle against everything around us.

Well, there is a simple solution to that! The best way to free our mind and be on track is by spending QUIET time with God, meditating on his words each day.

We all have many projects to submit, classes to attend and other things to do. However, 15-30 minutes with God everyday will comfort and strengthen you. It is guaranteed.
HOW TO HAVE A QUIET TIME:
1) SING
Sing 2-3 worship songs. If you cannot sing alone, have it in your playlist and you can sing along with it. Songs have the power to touch your heart and express many feelings that we cannot speak about or communicate in words. Before, I used to wonder why people cry when they sing, but now, I‘ve come to understand that songs have the right words to describe the feelings hidden deep inside their heart.

“Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs” Psalms 100:2
”I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being” Psalm 104:33

2) READ
Read the word of God. It is your spiritual food. The answers for all your doubts and questions are in the Book of Life! It is your manual for life. Read the Bible, meditate on God’s word... interpret it for your own life. The Bible will have something for every situation you go through. God does not speak to us directly but when we seek him in his words, we will always find him.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

Psalms 119:105
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shall meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8

3) PRAY
Pray...pray…pray. Prayer is the most powerful weapon that we have.
Through this, we are able to talk to the Almighty, develop a personal relationship with him and strengthen our faith in him. In times of happiness, sorrow, pain, etc... Talk to him! There is no fixed time for prayer... God is available 24*7. I remember the pastor saying, “Pray to God, tell him all your frustrations and your problems. Even your best friend may not understand you, but God knows exactly what you have in mind…. So, bring all your complains to him and see how He comforts you”.

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

These are the three golden rules of a student’s life. It keeps you on track because you are constantly in touch with God and his Word. This is the secret to success.

Develop your relationship with God, get involved with Him in every step of your life and see how your life change, how he puts you in a place where you have not even imagined yourself. Believe in God insanely…that will give you peace of mind and you will feel heaven on earth! Be in a relationship with God!
