CONDOLENCE MESSAGE

Dated: Lamka, the 5th June, 2012

The Zomi Council General Headquarters and its Constituent Tribe Bodies deeply mourn the untimely demise of PU.T.GOUGIN, Founder President, Zomi National Congress (ZNC) on 5th June, 2012 at Lamka, Churachandpur District, Manipur. Pu T.Gougin was one of the pioneer Zomi national movement, particularly in Manipur State (India), who spent his prime-time for Zomi national awakening and continued to strive for their political emancipation. During his earlier days he conducted primary research on the genealogy, history and culture of the Zomi and firmly believed that all the Zo descendents are One and their indigenous name is, Zomi (Zo people). He dreamt of a unified Zomi nation and worked towards spreading the Message of unity and brotherhood amongst the kindred Zomi tribes across the states and national boundaries; he also published books, articles and journals to articulate the messages.

The deceased, respectable Leader shall be remembered for his vision and self-less sacrifices for the unification of the Zo people. His death left a vacuum that cannot be filled so easily, yet his vision shall continue to guide us as we pursue the unfinished task.

We share the grief and sorrow of the bereaved family members, near and dear ones.

May his soul rest in PEACE.
