Um...well! So, uh, the world has ended yet again. And we are still here! The Mayans will be very busy figuring why we are still here, indeed. But our Scripture also says the one of the two who is not raptured will not know of it. So, I think we are the one whose roll is not called.
Okay, the world has ended. What can we say? Actually, we can't help, can we? Then, are we to sit idle and wait for the second harvest? Are we to submit to the seven years of tribulation without offering resistance?
No. Never. We are a nation of militants, oh, I mean fighters. We can beat the end of the world if we will. I hear Obama thundering 'Yes, we can!' in my heart. Yes, we can fight against doom and damnation and put the fire out of hell. I mean, if not of the unknown hell somewhere in the corner of heaven or deep in the pit of the earth, then at least of the hell of the here and now. We may not put out the hellfire completely, in fact, but we can lessen its heat to a great extent if we give our hearts in the attempt.
Come on guys, let's learn a lesson at least after the end of the world. Our loved ones have left us for Paradise without our knowledge. But we can make a heaven out of this earth. Let's stop fighting among ourselves and take some rest that we may badly need in the journey if indeed a second coming comes calling.
And this is what we shall do and why:
Wily politicians should learn to practice politics without wile. It's time to stop playing with the right to suffrage. We have spoken till the end of the world. Now, let the electorate speak. I know, power is a big component of Godhood. But it can also turn you into the very Devil you fear. Greed not too much that it proves your ruin. Power buys you money, and money buys you power. But the power of the people is far greater than what money can buy. Men may bow before power and money. Men may be suppressed to bear false witness. But they also sometimes see and speak the truth. Such a day will see the wily politician on the road to perdition.
If politicians go to hell, can religious men be far behind? Politicians and Church leaders are chips of the same block. They manipulate human beings and their faiths and convert them into money and power. The Church, much like politics, promises you welfare but sucks you at the end. You give up your rights and freedom for politics. You give up reason and logic for religion. And for both you become a meek lamb, obedient like Christ. In other words, to be easily exploited.
Do I say 'meek and obedient like Christ'? I apologise to those who know better. Christ was never meek. He was never obedient either. Had he been, he would have never brought the revolutionary changes that he did. In every way, he went against the grain of the society, culture, tradition and even the fallacies of his religion, that is Jewish. If he was in any way compatible with any society of his time, it is that of Rome. He urged payment of taxes to Caesar but he never forced tithes on anybody. No wonder the Jews swore the curse of his blood upon their heads to have him nailed.
Rather, if you must be like Christ, you will spit fire on all things evil. And greed for money is the root of all evil. The Church will strike down 'greed' and sanctify 'money' saying that money, as it is, is not evil but the greed for it is. But why is the Church so rich and powerful that it sways even the secular administration of a state? There must be a purpose when God said so proudly in the very beginning that he put the Garden of Eden in the land that has 'gold'. Perhaps, that is why, today, we measure the value of money in gold standard. Or perhaps God learnt from us and spoke in our terms. The Church and the Government (politics) are the two most reliable stock markets. As long as the world is there, they will therefore inspire awe and fear.
All we are driving at is just be religious, not 'so religious'. The greatest commandment is "Love your neighbour...." But the 'so religious' tribe twisted it, as they do many others, out of form to say 'neighbour only'. Do you wonder why churches split? Do you ever ponder why so many churches are built on 'this Stone' while Christ seemed to have hinted only one? And worse, all the churches claim they are the only church Christ have spoken of. In their bid to out-claim one another they forgot all about loving their neighbour and cling on to "neighbour only" for survival. Then, wars were born. That's what we call 'Holy Shit!' So just be enough with neighbour, no more no less. He who is lightheaded with the wine of holy spirit may find this hard to grasp. But all the words of the Scripture have double meanings. Always lean on the spiritual side when wrong, then you will be safe. Jesus had claimed too much to have been King of the Jews. But on cross-questioning, he played safe by asserting his kingdom as a spiritual one.
Then, there are the patriots. I admire especially our patriots for their boldness in taking to the fastness of the jungles. But how can we govern the civil society from the woods? I mean, governing in the proper sense. Instilling fear and dispensing instant justice may work for now. Your guns may not turn against you. But time and age bows to nobody. Your world will end, the society will never. And when the people have the courage to breakfree from the psycosis of fear, they will ravage you and your generation like a hungry lion. Moreover, in a saner voice, I think freedom overground is better than a chest of gems in the forests.
Well, these are funny year end thoughts. All I want is, can we give peace a chance at least before the world ends again? Peace, shit! We are at peace. We fight no war. We kill nobody. We are peace-loving inmates of a human zoo called the Northeast.
But, I mean, do we look like a land of peace lovers as we make of ourselves? We indeed love to introduce ourselves to the world as peace-loving primitives. But we find more peace in grabbing each other's throats, political exploitations and spiritual manipulations.
Wait guys! I think I don't need all these preachments after all. I now remember being lifted in the air. Yes there, I see St. Peter drawing the pearly gates close and the angels flapping their wings around in the midst of the clouds and a host of believers. Yes, I can hear a soft heavenly piano and a distant choir. I think I should join them up. I have a lot of singing to do. And there are no Mayans in sight so far.
